Yes. This side dish is low in carbohydrates and high in healthy fats, using broccoli, bacon, butter, heavy cream, and cheese, making it suitable for a ketogenic diet.
Is broccoli keto-friendly?
Yes. Broccoli is a common keto vegetable because it is low in net carbs and high in fiber, vitamins, and minerals.
What type of bacon works best for this recipe?
Regular-cut bacon works well and crisps evenly. Choose sugar-free bacon to keep the dish fully keto-compliant.
Can I use frozen broccoli instead of fresh?
Yes. Frozen broccoli can be used, but it should be thawed and well-drained to avoid excess moisture in the dish.
Can I substitute heavy cream with another ingredient?
Heavy cream is recommended for creaminess and keto compliance. Substituting with milk or half-and-half will increase carbs and reduce richness.
Is the oven step necessary?
The oven step helps melt the cheese evenly and finish cooking the broccoli. If preferred, the dish can be finished on the stovetop with a lid.
Can I make this dish ahead of time?
Yes. You can prepare it ahead and reheat in the oven or on the stovetop before serving.
How should leftovers be stored?
