Is cabbage keto-friendly?
Yes. Cabbage is relatively low in net carbs and commonly used in keto cooking. When portioned properly, it adds volume, fiber, and nutrients without significantly increasing carb intake.
Does this soup taste bland or flavorful?
The soup is flavorful despite its simplicity. Herbs, spices, garlic, onion, and beef broth work together to create a comforting and well-balanced taste.
Can I omit the tomatoes to reduce carbs further?
Yes. Tomatoes add slight sweetness and acidity, but they can be reduced or omitted entirely for stricter keto macros without affecting the soup’s structure.
What type of ground beef works best for this recipe?
Ground beef with moderate fat content, such as 80/20, works best. It adds richness and keeps the soup satisfying and filling.
Can this soup be made vegetarian?
This specific recipe is not vegetarian due to ground beef and beef broth. However, it can be adapted by using vegetable broth and a keto-friendly meat substitute, though macros will change.
Can I make Keto Cabbage Soup ahead of time?
Yes. This soup is ideal for meal prep and often tastes even better the next day as the flavors develop.
How should leftovers be stored?
Leftovers should be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator and consumed within 3–4 days. Reheat gently on the stovetop or in the microwave.
Can Keto Cabbage Soup be frozen?
Yes. The soup freezes well for up to one month. Thaw overnight in the refrigerator and reheat thoroughly before serving.
