FAQ
Is Keto Beef Stew suitable for a ketogenic diet?
Yes. This beef stew is designed for keto eaters, using low-carb vegetables like radishes instead of potatoes and thickened with xanthan gum rather than flour, keeping carbs low per serving.
Why are radishes used instead of potatoes in this stew?
Radishes are commonly used in keto stews because they soften during cooking and take on a potato-like texture while containing far fewer carbohydrates.
Are carrots keto-friendly in this recipe?
Carrots are slightly higher in carbs than other keto vegetables, but the small amount used in this recipe is generally acceptable when portioned correctly.
What cut of beef works best for Keto Beef Stew?
Beef short ribs work well because they become tender and flavorful when simmered. Other good options include chuck roast or stewing beef.
Why is xanthan gum used in the stew?
Xanthan gum is a low-carb thickener that helps give the stew a rich, hearty texture without using flour or cornstarch.
Can I make this beef stew in advance?
Yes. Keto Beef Stew reheats very well and often tastes even better the next day as the flavors continue to develop.
How should leftovers be stored?
Leftovers should be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator and consumed within 3–4 days. Reheat gently on the stovetop or microwave.
Can this stew be frozen?
Yes. This stew freezes well for up to one month. Thaw in the refrigerator overnight before reheating.
Can I add other vegetables to this stew?
Yes. Keto-friendly vegetables such as celery, mushrooms, or zucchini can be added without significantly increasing carb content.
What can I serve with Keto Beef Stew?
This stew pairs well with cauliflower rice, low-carb bread, or can be enjoyed on its own as a hearty and satisfying keto-friendly meal.
