Ingredients
170.1 g tomato paste
250 g water
5 tbsp brown Keto sweetener
59.75 g apple cider vinegar
pinch of ground cloves
1 tsp onion powder
1 tsp garlic powder
0.5 tsp paprika
1 tsp salt
Directions
- In a medium saucepan combine the water, tomato paste, vinegar, sweetener, garlic powder, paprika, onion powder and ground cloves. Whisk to combine.
- Bring to a boil, then cover and simmer over medium low temperature for 20-25 minutes, until the ketchup thickens.
- Cook for 5 -10minutes more, if the ketchup is too thin.
- Adjust the taste, by adding more salt and spices if desired.
- Cool, then place in an air-thigh container and refrigerate for up to 10 days. (I know store bough ketchup is kept at room temperature, even though it has been opened, but this one has no preservatives and you need to refrigerate it).
Notes
- If you do not puree the ketchup, skip this step. It still tastes good.
Keto Ketchup – Tips & Notes
Low-Carb & Keto-Friendly:
- Each tablespoon contains only 2 grams of net carbs, making it perfect for keto, low-carb, or diabetic-friendly diets.
- Uses erythritol as a sugar substitute instead of traditional sugar.
Preparation Tips:
- Simmering: Cook the ketchup over medium-low heat to allow it to thicken without burning. Stir occasionally.
- Consistency: If the ketchup is too thin after simmering, continue cooking for an additional 5–10 minutes. For a smoother texture, you can blend it with an immersion blender after cooking.
- Flavor adjustment: Taste and adjust salt, paprika, garlic, or onion powder to suit your preference.
Storage:
- Because it contains no preservatives, store the ketchup in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 10 days.
- If you prefer, divide into smaller jars for easier serving and faster chilling.
Serving Suggestions:
- Perfect with keto-friendly burgers, grilled meats, roasted vegetables, or homemade low-carb fries.
- Can be used as a base for low-carb barbecue sauce by adding smoked paprika, liquid smoke, and a little extra sweetener.
This keto ketchup is tangy, slightly sweet, and versatile, making it a great substitute for regular store-bought ketchup while keeping your low-carb diet on track.
